Community Employment

  • Community Employment: This program is designed to offer community employment opportunities to individuals who have both the desire to work in an integrated work setting and employment abilities for this type of work.  It is also important for the individual to be able to problem solve and have the appropriate social skills.  The two major goals for supported employment are to give the individuals the opportunity to earn competitive wages and to earn these wages in an integrated work setting.  Stages of community employment include:

    • Discovery: A process that highlights the strengths and passions of an Individual in order to assist with learning about them through experiences in living, learning, and working environments from a network of supports.

    • Job Development: A service that assists Individuals with completing job applications, identifying employment preferences, mock-interviewing, and carving out an appropriate placement in the community.

    • Job Coaching: A service that provides continued supports once employment has been obtained to assist with ensuring successful employment.
